About the school

At the Bridge, we recognise that mainstream school is not for everyone.  We like to present learning differently.

Our curriculum

The Bridge offers a broad and balanced curriculum based largely on practical vocational skills; transferable employment skills, independent living skills and personal and social development. Students can anticipate leaving with a range of entry level and level 1 City & Guilds qualifications; and to be supported into college and work.

The smallholding

Our smallholding consists of fruit and vegetable growing areas and farm animals. Pupils will learn about food production and the process from farm to fork.
Our pigs and sheep are reared for meat. Working in the smallholding, pupils learn about high welfare standards, nutrition and quantity of food required to produce high-quality meat. They will be learning employability skills such as team-working skills, communication and health and safety.
Pupils will harvest vegetables, herbs, fruit and eggs for use in the school kitchen to be used in school meals.

Bridge School Malvern - Typical school day - table
Break (20 mins) - Pupils are provided with drinks & snacks
Lunchtime - A cooked meal is provided daily. We cater to dietary requirements as needed. Parents/Carers may choose to send a packed lunch. There is no staffroom, and so staff and pupils eat lunch together.
Home time is at 2.00 pm - pupils collect personal items on departure.
Pupil’s progress is reviewed half termly. We try to keep pupil’s timetables the same for a term however, it may be necessary to make changes and to ensure every child is making expected progress and for us to be able to deliver specific interventions.

Uniform
Pupils do not have to wear a school uniform at the Bridge, but we expect pupils to dress appropriately. This is a school and a land-based centre so clothes should be appropriate for the season.  Pupils will need to dress ready to work in a range of practical settings such as the poly tunnel, animal housing, workshop, kitchen or art studio.
